February
10K Valentine's Day Run
February 12: The 10K run starts and finishes at Tidelands Park.

March
15th Annual Jim Laslavic Charity Golf Tournament
March 23, 2012: Coronado Municipal Golf Course. Sponsored by the Coronado Rotary Club.

SUPERSEAL Triathlon
March 18, 2012: Designed by Navy SEALs, the SUPERSEAL is an International distance triathlon (1.5K swim / 40K bike / 10K run) plus the inaugural  Sprint Triathlon (500m swim / 20K bike / 6K run).

Grunion Runs
These silvery fish spawn on Southern California beaches on spring nights after the new and full moon. Bring a flashlight and observe this phenomenon. Fish can only be caught by hand, and no fish can be taken during the closed season between April and May to protect the species.

Coronado Flower Show,  Book Fair, MotorCars on MainStreet 
April 21-22 The largest flower show in the west, Coronado's annual flower show, draws thousands of gardening and flower enthusiasts to Spreckels Park. Also this weekend is the classic car show, MotorCars on MainStreet, on Sunday, April 22, and the huge annual Friends of the Libray Book Fair both days.

May
Historic Home Tour
May 13  A Coronado tradition hosted by the Coronado Museum of History and Art, the annual home tour takes you inside some of Coronado's historically significant private homes. Tickets are required for this self-guided walking tour.

26th Annual MWR Over the Bridge Run/Walk
May 20, 2012   26th annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk in support of Navy Region Southwest, Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities for sailors. This event is the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed to use the scenic bridge above San Diego Bay.

Memorial Day to Mid-September
The Promenade Concert in the Park Series
May 27:  The first 2012 concert of the beloved Coronado institution. Bring a picnic and join the crowd every Sunday evening in Spreckels Park. Admission is free.

Coronado Ferry Landing Summer Concerts
Enjoy the best view of San Diego from the Ferry Landing while listening to music every summer weekend afternoon.

Surf Dog Competition
June 4 The annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition is the nation's original surfing competition for man's best friend. Over 50 dogs take to the waves as spectators watch, raising money for Loew's Hotels' Good Neighbor Partner, DonorsChoose.org

Coronado Rotary's Annual Low Tide Ride & Stride
June 24, 2012. Benefits San Diego military wounded warrier programs. 8.2 mile beach course from Imperial Beach to Sunset Park.

July
Fourth of July Celebration
Coronado Independence Day activities kick off with a 15k Run/Walk at dawn. The day includes a rough-water swim at North Beach, the famous two-hour parade along Orange Avenue, Art-in-the-Park, concerts in Spreckels Park and at the Ferry Landing, and culminates with spectacular fireworks over Glorietta Bay.  

Coronado Recreation Department Activities
All summer long, the City of Coronado has events for the whole family including their Summer Recreation Series at the Community Center, the Summer Festival at the public library, outdoor movies at Tidelands Park and the annual Water Carnival on July 9, 2011. (619) 522-7342 

Optimist Club Sports Fiesta 
July 23-29, 2012  The annual Sports Fiesta features a 10K Run, an ocean swim, triathlon, skateboard contest and diving and golf skills competition. Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Coronado and the Family Gym.
 

August
Bike the Bay - Ride the Coronado Bridge
Aug 26, 7 am. Non-competitive community bike ride for cyclists of all abilities along the Bayshore Bikeway. Registration required: (619) 269-6873, www.bikethebay.net.

September
The Annual Coronado MainStreet Garden Party

September 10: The community celebration that includes entertainment and food from Coronado's restaurants and supports the Orange Avenue Median Gardens project.

Superfrog Triathlon
September 11: The 33rd annual Naval Special Warfare long distance triathlon (1.2 mile swim / 56 mile bike / 13.1 mile run).


Coronado Art Walk
September 17-18: This annual two-day celebration of the arts is a free, public event. Exhibits and entertainment are at the Coronado Ferry Landing. Free shuttle service will carry visitors the length of Orange Avenue, with a stop at Spreckels Park's Art-in-the-Park. Gallery Walk on Friday, September 16, will feature 12 galleries and the Museum of History and Art open from 5-8pm. Free shuttle.

Chrysler Classic Speed Festival
September 24-25, 2011: The 14th annual race that takes over the runways of Naval Air Station North Island is part of Fleet Week San Diego. This vintage auto race features over 200 classic cars racing on a spectator-friendly 1.6 mile course. Sneak-peek parade down Orange Ave is on Sept 22.

October
Fire Department 19th Annual Open House: October 7, 10am-3pm. Fire apparatus displays, air ambulance, truck rides, music and more. 1001 6th St.

Halloween Events
Oct 28: Halloween Happening at the Community Center. Activities from 3:30-5:30; Haunted House 3:30-5:30 for all ages, 7-9pm for 6th graders and up.1845 Strand Way.
Oct 28: Library Halloween Party, 6-8pm, 640 Orange Ave.
Oct 31: Downtown Goes Ghostly.
Trick or treat throughout Coronado's downtown as local merchants hand out candy to kids in costumes on October 31. Sponsored by Coronado MainStreet.

November
Silver Strand Half Marathon and 5K race
November 13: Run, walk or skate from Coronado to Imperial Beach. Benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Coronado Museum of History and Art Holiday Open House
November 18: Museum and the gift shop are open into the evening with dessert refreshments from local restaurants.


Annual Holiday Festival at the Hotel del Coronado
November 30 4-7pm: Outdoor ice skating, visits with St. Nick, games and prizes as the hotel lights up for the holidays. The celebration ends with fireworks over the beach at 6:15pm.

December
Holiday Celebration
The holiday season in Coronado starts Friday, December 2, 2011, when Santa arrives by ferry at the Coronado Ferry Landing at 3:20pm. A festive parade follows, merchants keep their doors open late for shopping. Santa lights the central 75-foot star pine Christmas tree as the community band plays holiday music. The evening finishes with fireworks over Glorietta Bay.

Skating by the Sea
The Hotel del Coronado offers a unique Southern California experience --- outdoor ice-skating overlooking the Pacific Ocean from late November through New Year's Day.

Annual Artisan's Alley Craft Fair
December 3, 2011; Village Elementary school's playground is home for over 170 booths with gifts, art, crafts & food. 600 6th Street.

Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights
December 11 and 18: The traditional Christmas present to the cities on San Diego Bay from the boating community has a 1 -1½ hour procession of decorated boats that loop the bay and can be seen from the Coronado shoreline.

Lamb's Players Holiday Celebrations
December is filled with Christmas productions including the annual Festival of Christmas and An American Christmas which is held in the Hotel del Coronado's ballroom. (619) 437-0600

Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade
December 28: "America's Largest Balloon Parade" on Harbor Drive's bay-front.
